So here’s an idea! A “Throwback Thursday” version of how I started my Synchro Career! Now….. Taking it way back to the year 2000.

I was in Gymnastics at the time, age 6, watching my favourite Olympian compete. His name is Kyle Shewfelt. The entire club was watching him at his 1st Olympic games. I remember the feeling I got when I saw the games on the big screen, goosebumps.  I wanted to end up where he was, on the world stage! That’s when I first got my “Olympic Bug”. Within these Games, I saw Synchronized Swimming for the first time!  They were AMAZING! I was in awe of the strength and beauty that came with this sport! It was effortless for these women and as every synchro swimmer knows, if it looks easy to the audience then we did our job! These athletes showed me that I could be powerful, successful and inspirational as a young women.  Of course when I was 6 my only thought was “Mommy, I wanna do that!” But now I realize that this particular moment in my life was a very important one!! I knew right then and there that this is what I wanted to do.

Baby Synchro

After unfortunate events that caused my Gymnast career to come to a close (i.e. landing on my face every day) and 2 years of begging my parents for a synchro lesson, I finally got my chance!! I joined the             Calgary Aquabelles in 2002.

Combo World Championships 2013

10 years later, I made the Canadian Senior National Team.

There is so much to share with all of you from 2002 to Present Day, but for now here is how I started!

More to come!

A Date to Remember

August 5th, 2014….

This marks 2 years until the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro!!!

It’s amazing to think that we are halfway to our ultimate goal.  Since I have come to the Centre of Excellence, this group has evolved!! We started as a team from all different cities and coaching styles, blossoming into a family who love and respect each other; ready to work towards the common goal.  We have talked about this for so long, but we are finally at this point in the journey.  It’s incredible!!

TWO.   YEARS.   TO.   GO.

2 years

To my girls,

I remember when we 1st talked about this Olympic Quad.  We were a brand new team with so many obstacles to overcome.  Honestly, I think all of us were even a little scared to imagine that one day we would be the team that needed to fight for that spot at the Olympic Games.  All of us have worked so hard, decades, for this one moment that could ultimately change our future and the future of Canadian Synchronized Swimming.  Girls, look at how far we have come in the last 2 years!!  Its an uphill battle and it always will be, BUT REMEMBER, together we can move mountains!!  This is not an unrealistic goal, its possible and always has been possible.  All we need to do is push, together, as an unstoppable force toward those Olympic Qualifiers!

Love you always,

P.S  Special shout out to my amazing dad for his Birthday today!!! Love you! Thank you to you and mom for making this possible and never letting me give up on my dream! xo

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my first post on my new website!! I’m very happy and excited to be sharing my world with you.

If you haven’t checked out my “About” page, here is a little “tid-bit” of info on me and why I’m writing to you.   My name is Claudia Holzner and I am a member of the Canadian National Synchronized Swimming Team.  For the last 13 years, I have represented my club, my city and now my country as an athlete.  Two years ago I tried out for the Canadian Senior National Team (aka The Olympic Team).  I left my family, my friends, my boyfriend and my city behind; moving to Montreal to see if I had what it takes to make this goal a reality.  So I guess now the rest is, as they say, history!

The soul purpose of this blog is to help you, the fans and the public, share this journey with me!  It has been a long road of ups and downs but it’s finally time for me to share these moments with you.

Being here, becoming my own adult, has taught me to love myself, my body and my mind.  This life is not for the faint of heart and if there is one thing you take away from this blog, it’s that life is beautiful and we are blessed to be living it.  Find your eternity in each moment.

Live the life you want to live, not the life you were meant to live.

With Love, xo
