What an incredible 2 weeks here in Greece. This was a huge step forward for Team Canada and I am so excited to see what’s next! Of course, there are things we can improve, after all, it is the first competition of our season, but we are looking forward to see what we can do to push the boundaries and take another step towards our Olympic Dream.
It would be so crazy to write every single thing that happened during the competition, so I will say that we are proud!! It was our first performance together as a team and it was a success. We learned a lot about each other’s needs and how we can improve in creating a pre-comp “routine” that works for everyone and helps each individual athlete perform their best! All in all, we are extremely happy with how we started our year, we are coming out of this competition with a new understanding of our teammates and are bringing home 7 medals from Alexandroupolis!! π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
After a bit of time to recover, we started our week here in Athens with a trip up to the Acropolis – which is ππΌππΌππΌ- a visit to the 1896 Olympic stadium where they held the 1st modern Olympic Games and more amazing Greek food than my stomach can handle! We also got to visit 2 different clubs where we helped show skills and hopefully inspire the next generation of young athletes, who were so overwhelmingly sweet and generous! β€οΈ
For the past few days, we were training with Anastasia Ermakova, doing changes and finding new ways to make our routines even better going forward! We even trained in the 2004 Olympic Facilities where Anastasia won her first of four Olympic Gold Medals! π€©
Definitely an exciting start to the year!! Today we are off to Italy….. for a day trip π (not a joke, an actual day trip to Rome!!!) and then off to Japan!! Can not wait to share the rest of the journey!
