Hello January

Hey there, it’s been a while….

Welcome to 2016. I haven’t written so much lately because, to be honest, sometimes we just get into a rhythm. By saying that, I mean that there is so much focus and concentration looking forward, finding ways to achieve our goals, we forget to stop and look at how far we have come.

These days, each training session becomes similar, simply because we are striving for perfection. The only way to achieve such goals is by repeating, repeating and….. repeating every second of your routine for how ever long that can take until you get each move to where you want it to be.

31 days. That’s all. I have waited 15 years for this moment and I am almost in awe of the

process. It has been a total of 3.5 years since my move to Montreal. Each year I have been taught something, whether that was learning how to cook healthy food for myself, doing the laundry without shrinking my clothes, understanding when to stand up for myself and when to take critizism, or just simply learning how to lead a team focus; I have grown. Or at least I’d like to think so!! In the beginning I spent most of my time thinking about how to stay on the team, to maintain a spot; now I think about how to make myself a contributing member to the team and how I can make a difference leading towards biggest competition of our lives. I never imagined what this year would be like and I don’t think I could have ever anticipated it.

Two words. Life Changing. I am no longer just a member of a team, I am on the team that is going to the Olympic Qualifier. I have brought myself to this point where all the focus can be on what the team looks like and how WE can improve, not just about the individual. Although individual improvement is very important because it inspires you to keep pushing for the ultimate goal, it will not bring an entire team to where they want to go unless you have a clear view of what the Canadian Olympic Team “should” look like.

Poised, powerful, strong, beautiful. Rio here we come, with all the fight we have left!!
